Join RYT-200 yoga instructor Stephanie Misanik for this workshop on the fundamentals of yoga. This for anybody that is new to yoga, or perhaps a seasoned vet who is looking to revitalize their practice.
We will cover:
- IMPORTANT YOGA TERMINOLOGY, BOTH IN ENGLISH AND IN SANSKRIT, SUCH AS PRANAYAMA, WHICH MEANS “BREATH” OR “EXTENSION OF LIFE FORCE.”
- FUNDAMENTAL ASANAS, OR POSES, SUCH AS SUN SALUTATIONS, CHILD’S POSE, AND CHATURANGA.
- HOW TO COMPLETE EACH POSE SAFELY, AND HOW TO MODIFY POSES IN ORDER TO ACCOMMODATE YOUR OWN PERSONAL ABILITIES (AND ANY INJURIES YOU MAY HAVE OR HAVE HAD).
- HOW TO SAFELY USE YOGA PROPS SUCH AS BLANKETS, BLOCKS, AND STRAPS.
Most importantly, you will learn how to apply the skills you learn in yoga class, such as meditation, breathing and alignment to your daily life once you have stepped off of your yoga mat.
